Because the book drowns calm, affluent surfaces in creeping dread, the playlist stays cool and controlled — clean textures bleeding into unease. The 1970s LA world is rendered through period-touched strings and electric piano, but the music darkens slowly, the way Bret's narration does: glamour first, then the rot underneath.
